Vinyasa yoga connects one posture to the other using the breath. The term Vinyasa is derived from nyasa, meaning “in place”, and vi, meaning “in a special way”. This indicates that we are not “throwing our bodies around” but are bringing consciousness to each movement in each moment.

This class is a unique fusion of two ancient practices: serpentine dance and yoga. The serpentine dance is a fluid, sinuous dance style that originated in the late 19th century and is characterized by graceful, undulating movements of the body. Yoga, on the other hand, is a holistic practice that encompasses physical postures, breath work, and meditation to promote overall health and well-being.
In this class, participants will learn and practice the basics of both serpentine dance and yoga, and will then combine the two practices to create a dynamic and flowing movement experience. The class will begin with a gentle yoga warm-up, including breath work and stretching to prepare the body for movement. Participants will then learn a series of basic serpentine dance movements, such as hip circles, figure eights, and undulations, which will be incorporated into a flowing dance sequence.
